Footcare for Seniors

Foot problems are especially common in older people

Caring for your feet can become increasingly difficult as we age.
Tips for maintaining healthy feet include.
  • Regularly inspecting your feet
  • Use a mild soap to wash feet and dry thoroughly especially between your toes.
  • Use a lotion such as “sorbelene cream” for dry or cracked skin, your podiatrist may recommend a more specialist product for more problematic skin conditions.
  • Wear properly fitted shoes, with firm heel counters for added support and stability.
  • Wear clean socks, cotton or wool is best, avoid high mix of nylon socks.
  • Trim toenails regularly and follow the natural shape of your toe, never cut down in the sides.
Most importantly see your Podiatrist regularly if you are unable to manage any of these tasks easily.
After all feet are for life.
