Orthotics
Now is a great time of year to have your orthotics reviewed. Most health funds provide a yearly rebate for orthoses, so now is a great time to use it or lose it!
Often your original orthotic prescription is still appropriate for your needs. However, the materials in your orthoses may be worn or compressed, making them less comfortable than they once were.
You may also wish to have a second or third pair of orthoses so you don’t have to keep switching them between different shoes. Orthoses can be made smaller or thinner to fit into different shoe styles or made from softer materials, for example for longer distance running on hard surfaces.
If your orthotics are looking and feeling worse for wear, or you would like to change the style or materials, book an appointment now to see your podiatrist.
If your prescription is still appropriate, your new orthotics will be cheaper as they can be ordered using the same data as your old pair. You can also use your health fund rebate before the end of the calendar year and not lose it.
